The StreamSolutions Content Delivery System (CDS) now has ID3 support available to all customers, supporting both ID3v1 and ID3v2. ID3 is a tagging format for MP3s. It allows metadata such as the title, artist, album, track number, etc., to be added to the MP3 file.
The StreamSolutions CDS supports the following Tags, with the following meanings
- artist - The artist of the track
- title - The full title of the track
- album - The album name the track came from
- track - The track number, usually the position on the album
- genre - The type of music, eg. Rock, Heavy Metal
- year - The year the track was made
The order they are displayed is completely controllable within the CDS and tags can be repeated multiple times ( if required ) by entering the order in our CDS configuration panel.
Supported characters in the Id3 tags are as follows:
- ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ
- abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz
- 1234567890
- . _ - : < > ? ( ) * ! & " { } [ ] ~ # ; @ , + =
The ID3 display is controlled by configuration of the 'ID3 Tags Format' within the control panel and the format is a free form field and has been defaulted to - -
You can change this to include the following tags <album> <track> <genre> <year> <title></p>
<p>These tags are then replaced by the ID3 tag entry thus <artist> - <album> - <year> would be replaced with <a class="streamlink" href="http://streamsolutions.co.uk">Stream<span class="red">Solutions</span></a> - HomeMusic - 2007 If the ID3 tags for artist, album and year are set in the MP3 playing.</p>
<p>The delimeters shown above of '-' can be replaced with any character(s) desired so giving you complete control of your title display.</p>
<p>If no ID3 tag is found, and ID3 support is enabled, then the filename is used instead so allowing a mix and match of files with and without ID3 support without the need to make sure all files are setup correctly.</p>
