The StreamSolutions port 80 service allows your listeners, to connect to your station, through most firewalls.
Here at StreamSolutions we do understand many modern businesses block a lot of 'Internet' traffic to protect themselves from malicious traffic. However we do not believe streaming falls into this category so we have developed this additional service for our Shoutcast and Icecast offerings.
By default all StreamSolutions Windows Media Services work on Port 80 and can be accessed by changing
- mms://
/ / to http:// / /
And for our Shoutcast & Icecast servers to use the port 80 feature your link needs to be
- http://
/
The StreamSolutions port 80 service is a small charge of £2 per month to cover the additional resources it takes and we believe this is a small price to pay for getting those extra listeners.
StreamSolutions are pleased to announce the following upgrade to our Port 80 streaming service for Shoutcast
- Support for AAC+
- Support for ASX clients. If your link were http://87.117.193.142/9000/
To listen using port 80. You can also suffix with type asx to allow ASX clients (such as Windows Media Player) by using the following link
- http://87.117.193.142/9000/&type=asx
Support for meta data for clients that request it. This means all song titles will now show in players such as WinAmp when using Port 80
The real client name and IP is reported by the Agent entry in the Shoutcast XML. This makes the Port 80 service fully compatible with our Anti-Stream Ripping service.
iTunes has been successfully tested for Title support and now works as if connected directly to the Shoutcast server.
We are looking to add several other features, as well as compatibility to our Icecast service in the near future.
If you are an existing customer and would like to take the advantage of the port 80 service and have it enabled on your stream please drop us an email via our contact page and we can make the changes for you.
